AN UNCONVENTIONAL CREATION BY STUDIOPEPE
As a design duo Studiopepe manages to stay away from the standard.
Within the spectrum of interior design Ariane and Chiara challenge each other to the max
and with that they keep coming up with the most unconventional ideas.
Like Club Unseen, their new presentation for this Milan Design Week edition….
They counted down the weeks towards the Salone by publishing a few teasers.
First they revealed the name of the project: Club Unseen. Then, they posted something about the concept:
a Secret Member Club, by invitation only. After that, Co van der Horst published they would be launching
a new furniture piece. It was all so exciting! Luckily, VITA DI LUSSO was invited
and therefor able to share it with you. Let’s get Unseen!
Neon lights, tattoos, drinks and sci-fi maths in pastels
Those who were invited, were informed about time and location only a few days before the happening. It turned out to be an old warehouse in the middle of Milan, where a slim neon light unveiled the secret entrance. No doorbell….
Exactly at the confirmed point of time the doors were opened, where after we were being marked with a tattoo, the logo of Club Unseen, and instantly became one of the Secret Members Club.
Once inside the space, and after receiving a fresh cocktail fromout out of the mysterious bar, we were treated with a graphical, geometric pastel game of lines, combined with neon lights and furniture pieces in various shapes and materials. Although it looked very modern with a mature and global touch, I sensed some kind of Italian timelessness. An extremely well done reflection of the general goals of the Salone del Mobile!
WIEMER, the 001 of Co van der Horst
Normally, Co van der Horst introduces its design scoops in its own showroom in Holland. However, now they decided to launch their first ‘own’ furniture piece in the privat Club Unseen in Milan.
WIEMER is named after the mothers’ side of the family company and actually a homage to Loes van der Horst-Wiemer (1939-1991).
It was designed by Studiopepe and fitted seemingly into the Unseen concept. The table top is made of a unique plate of Pink Onyx and has to cutouts for the inlay of travertine and Onice Veluto Extra Onyx, which creates a very special optical effect. WIEMER can be customized, as any Italian design would!
