WORKSHOP OF WONDERS PRESENTS
EXHIBITION COMPACT LIVING
Wednesday 20th February the opening of ‘Compact Living’ took place at the Dutch design studio
and gallery Workshop of Wonders in Utrecht. This exhibition was opened by the local city council member
of culture, Anke Klein. This compact show can be visited every Thursday, Friday and Saturday
between 11-17h until June and includes a tour by creative director Gerrit Vos. A must see!

Cultural platform
Every four months Workshop of Wonders creates a new show, where current topics and/or designers are exposed. The design studio and gallery, which is located in the historical heart of Utrecht, is also meant as a cultural platform for the creative industry, where the team connects designers, architects and branch professionals.

Compact Living lives!
Compact Living derives from the increasing need to live more compact and aware, surrounded by sustainable and recyclable materials. Tiny apartments in the urban jungle and in the wild nature; compact living lives! Changing accommodations, better shared amenities, less need of property, freedom of technological innovations and circularity come out on top. Design is an important tool to be able to deal with all of this. The exhibition Compact Living highlights this huge development from various angles.

Master pieces
Gerrit Vos: “Together with our partners we created four spaces in our gallery, subdived into the themes Nature, Romance, Ego and Social. Artek icons from the thirties and fifties are combined with the polystyrene casted stove of Klaas Kuiken. circular 3D-printed designs of Dirk van der Kooij blitz the sixties Karuselli lounger with light and sound. The last Bourroullec master pieces are enrobed by pressed clothing remains of Kvadrat, while Spring announces itself with Weltevree.”
Please, feel free to step into the gallery of Workshop of Wonders, Domstraat 25 in Utrecht and experience Compact Living yourself!
