PARIS DECO OFF;
A NON-SKIPPABLE EVENT FROM NOW ON
For the first time ever, I visited Paris Déco Off, which is the most leading, international event for fabrics,
textiles and wall decoration. I was invited by my Dutch client Co van der Horst and agent Lorette Millar
to capture their activities on camera and to publish a few articles about it. Also, Modulnova asked me
to come over to their showroom, to join them for a ‘panini with champagne’.
So my agenda was fully booked with appointment with the most leading labels
in order to give you insight in with whom and from what perspective
those appointments take place. And as you might expect,
for this blog I selected some stunning Italian brands!
Something you should know
Every January the characteristic district Saint-Germain is dominated by interior- and exterior professionals, who open their showroom doors for consumers and clients to present them their new fabric collections. It is a non-skippable event, where you will be inspired by new materials, colors and stories behind the designs. And of course you can also take the opportunity to maintain your network, because Saint-Germain is full of lovely bars and restaurants.
Top quality for more than 150 years at Rubelli
After a lovely coffee in Café de Fiore at Boulevard Saint-Germain, I was headed to Rubelli at Rue de L’Abbye, in the heart of Paris Déco Off: Eglise de Saint-Germain des Prés. Rubelli is located in Venice as one of the oldest fabric houses of the world.
Next to the twenty new fabrics, Rubelli also presented five matching ‘carte da parati’, or wall papers. Also, they extended their palette with more than forty new colours, whereupon you can mix & match every piece. Very impressive! Hope to visit them in Venice when I go there this Spring!
Dedar Milano goes bold
During Paris Déco Off Dedar Milano furnishes a pop up showroom at Rue de Seine. Normally, the interior of this house is clear white, where Dedar paints it black for only a few days, whereafter it has to be brought back in clear white again (!).
We are offered a perfect seating in the back of the store, where Co van der Horst can easily select some fabrics and at the same time talk with the export manager about this year’s strategic activities.
It is amazing to see how everybody is so efficient and involved. Here is where the passion for textiles, eye for details, business sense and relation management come together!
Panini & champagne at Modulnova
My love for the Italian kitchen brand Modulnova was born in Holland, and they definitely stole my heart when I visited their showroom in Milano. This year, they will celebrate their 30-year-anniversary at Salone del Mobile – Eurocucine. Therefor we talked about some ideas in their showroom in Paris, during Paris Déco Off, while enjoying a lovely live-made panini and a glass of champagne.
Champagne in Paris is always appropriate, right? So, if you are inspired by my story, let me know. Maybe we can meet up next year at Saint-Germain! Ciao!
