DISCOVER THE COLLECTION RUDOLPH SEATINGS
BY VINCENT VAN DUYSEN FOR SERAX
After successful collaborations in the field of table ware and outdoor furniture, Serax
and Vincent Van Duysen have joined forces again for a collection of seating furniture
that illustrates the DNA of both parties. “I thought it would be a good idea to include
in the series a custom product that I can use very often in my projects.”
And so: the Rudolph seatings will go down in history!
MID CENTURY AS A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
Vincent Van Duysen is one of the best-known Belgian architects and interior- and product designers. His style is one of purism and refined use of materials. Timeless designs, reduced to their essence. His collection for Serax does not cry out for attention, but stands out in its tranquility and simplicity.
The name Rudolph refers to Rudolf Michael Schindler, a major protagonist of mid-century American modernism. “I have a lot of admiration for him. The mid-century style in particular is very inspiring for my work.”
“THE RUDOLPH COLLECTION CONSISTS OF NATURAL AND
COMFORTABLE SEATINGS, WHICH BOTH ILLUSTRATE
THE DNA OF SERAX AS THAT OF VINCENT VAN DUYSEN”
CUSTOMIZATION WITH PERFECT DNA
The main inspiration for the Rudolph collection was the sofa that Vincent van Duysen has in his home in Portugal, because of the proportions, the lines and the serenity you feel when you look at it or sit on it.
“I chose to work with solid black and cognac tinted woods and marble for their texture, warmth and tactility. All fabrics selected for this collection are custom made in Belgium and available in the colors off white, beige, sand , smoke and bone. We are very happy with the end result, which illustrates both the DNA of Serax and that of Vincent Van Duysen.”
