DE JUUL INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE
GETS THE BEST OUT OF YOUR INTERIOR WISHES
Although Juliëtte van der Hulst started her company DE JUUL Interior Architecture in 2008,
just around the corner of my house, I only recently became acquainted with this talented lady.
Reason: two articles for The Art of Living magazine, including a project in Haarlem and in Heemstede.
Delicious, girl power next door!

Co creation
First I was expected at a beautiful penthouse, located between flower fields and waters. The owner of the house is a contractor. So when this penthouse was built, he was perfectly able to determine the complete layout himself. But when the children left home after a while, there was a need for “a small adjustment.” As his company already regularly cooperated with DE JUUL Interior Architecture, it was logical to ask Juliëtte for advice about the interior. She transformed the office into a classic English gentlemen’s room, the kitchen was given a custom-made dining table and Juliëtte was also asked to think about a new look in the hall, the bedroom and the living room.

Translation in individuality
“I translated their specific wishes for this metamorphosis into various color compositions and textures. I applied soft purple decor wallpaper in the hall and a combination of yellow and orange in the bedroom. The result is colorful, authentic and fits well into the whole,” says Juliëtte. And also in the semi-detached villa in Haarlem, Juliëtte was able to translate the wishes of the occupant well into a new look that was really made on the person herself. Juliëtte is able to listen to the best of someone’s living wishes and to empathize completely with someone else’s style. In addition, she acts as a professional sparring partner and comes up with suitable alternatives when in doubt.

Inspiration from art and design
The new interior in Haarlem started with the desire to replace the floor and to give color to the white plastered walls. The resident is a true art collector and was inspired by the new colors on the walls of the Rijksmuseum. When Juliëtte came by for an intake, and she saw the chair by Jean Prouvé from the Vitra by G-Star collection, it turned out to be one of her favorite designs. The start of a good click with each other and a good starting point for a totally new interior concept! The renovation went smoothly. Juliëtte: “We had a great connection and because of the chair I did not have to dig any further to get the resident’s style up. This interior fits her like a winter jacket.”
