THE LATEST TREND IS ALL ABOUT SMART DESIGN
Living spaces are scarce and expensive. Due to the nitrogen problem, the lack of
construction sites and the shortage of personnel in the building construction industry,
unfortunately this will not change at short notice. Conclusion: we have to make optimum use
of our square meters, so multifunctional living is becoming increasingly important.
It meets the need to combine function, comfort and flexibility while at the same time giving it
a clear and cozy appearance. Interior design is now all about intelligence!
MODULAR & TIMELESS
SMART & SWAPPABLE
A very important development within multifunctional living is smart and convertible furniture. Nowadays, via an app or voice control, wall units can be opened or lowered to a comfortable height so that spaces that would normally remain unused suddenly become accessible. And also we see apparently ‘normal cupboards’ being transformed into a handy, expandable workspaces including filing cabinets or a comfortable sleeping area in no time at all.
SMALL & COMPACT
The new ‘less is more’ is ‘tiny is more’. We already know the tiny houses phenomenon, but tiny furniture is certainly gaining ground! Scandinavian furniture brands in particular started to present ‘cocktail’ instead of ‘lounge’ and ‘intimite’ instead of ‘XXL’; small and compact instead of large gestures. This is not only a matter of aesthetics, but also because the pragmatism of the Scandinavian design culture fits very well with the current times.
