SIEMATIC KITCHEN DEFINES
THE ULTIMATE MIX BETWEEN OLD AND NEW
Right in the center of the Jordaan in Amsterdam, in a charming historic building,
SieMatic has been able to make a fine contribution to a spectacular renovation.
It is a higher located room on the ground floor in the middle of the house,
where the ultimate mix of old and new has been created by means of
a modern SieMatic kitchen.

PERSONALIZED FURNITURE PIECES
The architect involved, had worked with SieMatic before and for the kitchen concerned he advised the residents to visit the SieMatic flagship store. With a self-made video of the existing situation and a list of personal wishes under their arm, they entered into a conversation with the SieMatic team. Subsequently, a series of 3-D images came out to visualize the total situation.
After an iterative process, a palette of white, stainless steel and dark oak was chosen, which makes a nice match with the existing light oak floor. To make the wall cabinet appear less dominant, it was placed floating and recessed in a new protruding wall. That resulted in an impressive piece of furniture. And to emphasize the characteristics of the building, such as the various height differences, the top units are indented in relation to the worktop.

THE CONNECTING FACTOR
The kitchen island, with the two white glossy round cooker hoods above, is a real eye-catcher. One hood has an integrated extractor and dimmable lighting system and the other hood complements with lighting only. The top of the adjoining bar table matches well with the top of the dining table in the front house, as well as with the enormous wall cupboard in the back house, which beautifully connects all rooms.
Renovation in a monumental building entails a number of challenges, such as existing architectural structures and unexpected obstacles. It is then essential, that professionals are also involved in the installation phase and that the entire process is properly supervised. The involvement of SieMatic in this has therefore been experienced as very pleasant.

DREAM KITCHEN ON A DREAM LOCATION
After years of country living, the residents wanted to return to the city where they had lived and studied in the past. It turned out to be a four-year quest, during which many other houses were visited and viewed. When this property came to their attention, it turned out that they had finally found their dream home.
In the building, which was originally split into an upstairs and a ground floor apartment, a comfortable guest house has been furnished in the basement. Family and friends can stay here overnight or longer if they like. The kitchen actually functions as a central meeting place, and it can rightly be called a dream kitchen!
